Prerequisites:
  • Students taking the course for credit must have taken the Information Retrieval course (15-886/11-741) or have the consent of the instructor.
  • Others are welcome to audit or sit in on the course, subject to availability of space.
  • Course Description:
    Advanced Information Retrieval Seminar and Lab is a seminar that focuses on current research in Information Retrieval. The seminar covers recent research on subjects such as retrieval models, text classification, information gathering, fact extraction, information visualization, summarization, text datamining, information filtering, collaborative filtering, question answering systems, and portable information systems. Other topics are drawn from recent SIGIR, Digital Libraries, TREC, Machine Learning, and AAAI conferences. Course content varies from year to year.
