Transportation: Bus or Taxi

Airport to CMU: A taxi from the airport costs approximately $45-50 (including tip) and takes about 30 minutes. Most drivers will know CMU, but in case your driver doesn't, ask to go to Oakland and to be dropped off at the Hillman Center (see Academic/Administrative building 9B on this map). If the driver does not recognize the building name, please ask him/her to go to the corner of Forbes and Morewood, and then follow the walking directions located here.

The 28X bus runs directly from the airport to CMU. It costs $2, takes about an hour, and makes many stops before reaching the University (check out the 28X schedule). When reaching CMU, the 28X stops at the intersection of Forbes and Morewood.

CMU to the Airport: The 28X goes (almost) directly from CMU to the airport, leaving every 45 minutes. Taxis are slightly more complicated, because you (or we) must call in advance to arrange pick-up, and drivers occasionally get confused about where to pick you up (The driveway in front of Hamburg Hall - administrative/academic building 10 on this map - is the most reliable spot).

Parking

The East Campus Garage is your best bet. If you are coming from downtown or the Holiday Inn, it is located on the right on Forbes Avenue. The East Campus Garage is P7 on this map, and parking costs $9.00 a day. For your convenience, there is an official CMU Visitor Parking webpage.

Hotels

Please see the University's official Accomodations webpage for lodging options.
