LTI Director Jaime Carbonell co-founded WeSpeke, which just launched a new Lesson app for language learning.

WeSpeke, a global digital learning platform designed for practicing languages, sharing cultures and making international connections co-founded by LTI Director Jaime Carbonell, has announced the addition of a new app to its language-learning arsenal.

The new technology, WeSpeke Lessons, allows users to access and purchase high-quality language lessons delivered in an easy-to-use interface. Designed for mobile users, WeSpeke Lessons seamlessly interfaces with the company's other tools. After completing a lesson, for example, a user can quickly transition to WeSpeke's Chat app and use their new skills to communicate with a native speaker. While lessons focus on learning English right now — with a specific collection available for English language tests like the TOEFL iBT® — lessons in additional languages are planned for the future.

"Our users want to learn languages on their smartphones," said WeSpeke CEO Michael Elchik. "WeSpeke offers the complete experience: relevant content, effective learning, and instant practice."

Founded in 2010, WeSpeke allows language learners to build language skills through collaborative and immersive conversations with native speakers using text chat, audio chat and video. Read more about the company and its new Lessons option on the WeSpeke website.
